Baby #2 at 38 Weeks

I'm 38 Weeks today and craving this...

I went to Smith's to buy butter and was stopped.in.my.tracks by this chocolate cake. {Obviously, since I took a picture of it!} I've loved being pregnant, but this gestational diabetes diet is for the birds! I'm ready for some cake, cookies, candy, and a root beer... I'll probably get sick when I actually do get to indulge in sweets, but I think it just might be worth it!

This week our playgroup friends threw a "Baby Sprinkle" for me during our Friday meetup! They had decorations, food, baby shower games, and gave us lots diapers, blankets, clothes, and baby supplies. It was so much fun to talk about our babies and experiences. I'm so thankful for these girls and all the fun we have, plus the kids love each other and play really well together!

After I put all the new baby things away, Brendon and I put the finishing touches on Luke's room!

I've been trying to find the perfect things to add to the shelves above his bed and mentioned to Brendon that I wanted a hubcap for his room. I've found them online, but didn't really want to pay $25-50 for an old car part that would be hanging on the wall. B came to the rescue when he found this one on the side of the road! He gave it a good cleaning and attached a wire to the back so that it can hang on the wall. I think it's perfect and love that it was free!

All we need now is a photo of our family of 4 for the frame!

My friend, Brenda, gave us a gift in this dark brown basket and I loved how it looked on the changing table. It perfectly holds all those teeny tiny newborn diapers and wipes.

I had a serge of energy over the weekend, which I took advantage of and finished sewing the Boppy covers and changing pad covers for the nursery.  Now, all of my sewing projects are finished and I'm back to being tired again!

Maybe I just feel like I can rest now that we're prepared for baby!  His closet is so full of baby clothes. Having two boys is really convenient! I washed all of Owen's newborn to 3 month size clothes and put them up in the closet for baby brother. I can't wait to see Luke wear the same outfits that Owen wore.

Owen's been enjoying the new stroller. He loves that he can sit on the back and asks us all the time when we are going to take him for a walk with his brother.

Our little swimmer is doing such a great job at his swim lessons! He's moved up to the next level and spends the entire 30 minute class holding on to the wall. (In the previous class, he stood on a platform while waiting to take his turn swimming to the instructor.)

Look at how far he can swim!

He got new goggles and we tested them out over the weekend. He was so surprised when he didn't get water in his eyes. And, even if he looks like a bug, he's adorable in them!

He's pretty much the cutest thing anywhere! He and Brendon went to a baseball game with our friends, Billy and Maddux, last night. {I went for a pedicure while the boys were gone.} I just loved how excited he was when he came home and told me all about the baseball game, his ice cream, and the "big ole bug" he saw!

Luke's Baby Shower Weekend

The weekend has certainly made me feel special! I got to see all 4 of my favorite friends at the same time and celebrate Baby Luke at my Long Distance Baby Shower!  Checking the mail this week has been so much fun. We've been getting lots of sweet gifts and cards from our friends and family.  I saved all of them and opened the cards and gifts on Saturday with Jessica and Susan at my house and Skyping with Brandi and Diana.

Talk about a long distance shower... Jessica drove in from Phoenix and Susan flew to Las Vegas from Kansas to be here with me! I'm so lucky to have all 4 of these girls in my life :O)

I got to see everyone over Skype, meet Brandi's new baby boy --- John David, talk babies, and open gifts.  Plus, they got a tour of the baby's room and Owen spent lots of time showing off for his buddies, Tristen and Sara Beth.

Not only did Brandi and Diana plan the shower and mail invites to our family and friends--- They designed and mailed decorations that Susan and Jessica put up all over the house and coordinated for them to pick up food and cupcakes for us to snack on during the shower.

Every detail was adorable... water bottle wrapper, cupcake toppers, banners, balloons, streamers, and ribbons.

I love the "Special Delivery" banner! So fitting for a long distance baby shower where all the gifts were delivered to us in Las Vegas.

Diana and Brandi really thought of everything---- Water bottle wrappers, cupcakes toppers, matching plates and napkins, balloons, streamers, banner, and food!

We got lots of cards, gift cards and even restaurant gift cards for dinner after the baby is born!

I loved getting new clothes for Luke. He'll have tons of hand-me-downs, but these new outfits are extra special since they are just for him!

Brendon's mom sent us a new baby monitor!

Is it possible to love a bib? ...Because I think I love these elephant bibs!

I was so excited to get an Ergo Carrier for wearing the baby. I've been talking to other moms about how to manage two little ones and everyone seems to swear by the Ergo. I can't wait to try it out!

I'm in LOVE with the burp cloths and bibs that Meamaw made for us! She even made matching shirts for Owen. I can't wait to see them together!

Owen couldn't wait to eat the Milk & Cookies cupcake! It is a vanilla and chocolate chip cupcake with buttercream frosting and a cookie on top. Yum!

We are so thankful for all the gifts we received and can't wait to use them with our new little guy!

Tristen, Owen and Sara Beth loved seeing each other again.  Technology is so cool!

I'm so lucky to have such wonderful friends that are excited to celebrate with me!

Baseball Baby Shower

What's better than one adorable baseball baby shower?

TWO adorable baseball baby showers and THREE sweet little baby boys!

My friend, Genelle, found out she was having twin boys and I couldn't wait to host a shower for her. She decided to decorate the boys' nursery in a vintage baseball theme.  As soon as she told me the theme, I spent days researching baseball baby showers and birthday parties. There are so many cute ideas out there---I almost didn't know where to begin.  I knew I'd need lots of baseballs, peanuts, and Cracker Jacks.  But, I also wanted the decorations to be specific to the boys.  So, I decided it was time to teach myself how to make Subway Art.

It's no secret that I love my Subway Art, but usually I download it from Eighteen25.  Making it was a lot of fun and I love how it turned out. I included the boys names, fun baseball fonts, and sports terms.

I borrowed lots of baseball equipment from my friend, Susan, and promised her boys that I would return it all as soon as the shower was over.  :O) The used glove and dirty baseballs were beautiful... that is, as beautiful as dirt can be!

I also made this embroidery hoop wall hanging.  It was a last minute craft project (like driving to Hobby Lobby at 7pm the night before the shower kind of last minute) and turned out to be my very favorite decoration.  I put burlap in a large embroidery hoop and very lightly applied white paint over the entire surface.  I didn't want it to be bright white and wanted the burlap texture to shine through. Then, I used red paint to add the stitches.  Done!

There were lots of other decorations around the house... pennants, baseball pictures, and Big League Chew bubble gum!

I decided to make the climb up to my 3rd floor apartment a little more exciting.  Using sidewalk chalk, I drew bases from the ground floor up to my front door.

The guests all stopped at the "All-Star Check In" to autograph a baseball for the boys.  It was a fun way to incorporate a guestbook and it can be displayed in the boys' room or played with once they're older.

Everyone went home with a box of Cracker Jacks!

These little beauties were a labor of love, but so cute and delicious that it was worth all the work.  I made cake pops and added red stitching to make them look like baseballs.  Thank you Sweet C's Designs for the tutorial!

The food was all ball park inspired.... hot dogs, nachos, and pretzels. Plus, fruit and veggies... which, I realize, you'd never find at an actual baseball game, but they were arranged to look like a baseball field.

Our friend, Courtenay gave Genelle these perfect little baseball onesies.

And, the twins came to the shower too! There's no need to plan games or activities when you have these two little cuties to play with!

We all had a great time! Thank you to Jennifer for co-hosting with me.

Welcome to the world, Jackson and Jameson!

Alissa's All-Star Baby Shower

While planning Genelle's shower, I teamed up with my friend Jessica to help decorate for Alissa's baseball baby shower.  Brendon, very kindly, cashed in all of his frequent flyer miles so that I could go out to Phoenix to see baby Bryce. And, it worked out perfectly that Alissa's shower was during the week of my visit.  I packed a suitcase full of the baby shower supplies and was off to Phoenix!

Alissa's theme is also vintage baseball---with orange and blue as the primary colors.  I used all the same decorations, but changed the colors to match.  It was so much fun to see all the details come together. I loved the diaper cake.  It was topped with a heart shaped Valentine lollypop that looks like a baseball.  Perfect!

How cute are baby Bryce's newborn photos? Baseball themed and everything!

Even the bathroom was decorated!

Baby Nolan got his very own Subway Art.

Jessica's house is perfect for hosting large parties.  She had tables set up for the guests and each one was decorated with baseball themed snacks... peanuts, BabyRuth candy bars, CrackerJacks, sunflower seeds, Twizzlers, cotton candy, snickers bars, and Big League Chew bubble gum. Yum!

The food was delicious!

And the treats were just as sweet as the company!

Hosting baby showers seems to have become my hobby and I love it! It's just so much fun to celebrate new babies with friends.  I'm so glad I was able to be a part of Genelle and Alissa's very special days!

For now, I'm done with all my baby shower planning and I've moved onto Owen's 2nd birthday party! This party is sure to be triple the fun because we'll be having a combined party with his best little buddies, Tristen and Sara Beth!  Brandi, Diana, and I have been planning for weeks... I can't wait!
